“You get so much more than just reflexology with Denise”

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is an ancient therapy dating as far back as 2,500 BC with first pictorial evidence in the Cave of Physicians with drawings of feet being massaged. The premise is simple: there is a map of the body on the soles of the feet and by stimulating different pressure points, a message is sent via the central nervous system to the corresponding organs and body parts. This initiates a healing response, unblocking vital energy, leaving the client with a sense of calm and deep relaxation.

It is a safe, non-invasive way to support your wellbeing and bring you back into balance. It is not a massage, and it does not diagnose or treat medical conditions. Instead reflexology works by supporting the body’s own healing process. Reflexology creates the right internal conditions for your body to rest and re-set naturally. It works with your body, not against it.

My particular areas of interests are: fertility, hormonal balance, nervous system regulation, gut and immune health, and improving sleep and energy through reflexology.

With over 25 years of experience, I am now treating the children of my clients, some of whom have been seeing me for over 20 years. This brings a level of trust and ease, allowing me to treat the entire family.

Hormonal support

  • Fertility and pregnancy

  • IVF

  • Irregular or painful periods

  • Perimenopause and menopause symptoms

Hormonal imbalance can affect mood, energy, sleep, digestion, fertility, and menstrual health. Stress, poor sleep, and nervous system overload are common underlying factors. Reflexology supports the body as a whole, helping it return to a more balanced state. By improving circulation and supporting the endocrine system, reflexology creates a healthier internal environment for the reproductive system.

Nervous System Regulation

Chronic stress raises the cortisol levels in the body and it becomes stuck in “fight or flight” mode which in turn disrupts other hormones and the nervous system becomes dysregulated. Reflexology encourages the body to switch into the para sympathetic nervous system (rest-and-digest state), where healing, repair, and hormone regulation can take place.

Gut Health and The Immune System

The gut is deeply sensitive to stress and it is now widely acknowledged by doctors that the gut is the second brain. The gut and brain are connected through the nervous system, known as the gut-brain axis. The vagus nerve being the largest and most talked about. 70% of your immune system is found in the gut, so if it is sluggish your immunity will be compromised. Many health conditions are associated with gut dysbiosis.

Chronic stress over long periods negatively impacts the gut, increases inflammation and can have an immune suppressing effect. Working the vagus nerve in reflexology is like a natural re-set button.

Sleep

A common outcome of reflexology is an improvement in the quality of sleep. This in turn will help the functioning of the immune system which is deeply affected by your quality of sleep.

Many sleep problems are linked to stress, hormonal imbalance, digestive discomfort, and an overactive nervous system. Reflexology works holistically to calm the body, helping it move from “fight or flight” into a deep state of rest.
